I hard wired a plug so I can get a faster charge and can leave the original charger in the car to have all the time.

The 32A Portable EV Charger by bokman, is a well-made EV charger with a lot of abilities, features and accessories. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying.

I. Quality – I was pleasantly surprised with this product, to find out its well-made out of what appears to be good quality materials. It’s not top of the line by any means. However, it seems to be well suited for the job and leads me to believe, it will last me for a long time. It’s better than most at this level of cost for sure.
II. Performance – It has worked great providing a range of available amps, with a screen on the front to offer useful information. The 25ft. cable in on the longer end of the scale and great to have if you can’t park real close the outlet. 32 Amps will charge relatively fast and should be more than sufficient for most people. My included Tesla charge is also 32 Amps, but you’ll need an adapter to use this one on a Tesla. Its pack with a ton of safety features, as well as waterproofing. The amps and timer is very easy to use and adjust with the buttons on the front of the main unit. Don’t forget they are including an adapter, so you can also plug into any normal house outlet, but you’ll be limited to 12 Amps that way. It’s still really nice to have an adapter, if you’re in a pinch and can’t find a NEMA 14-50 plug to use. I feel like this product offers a great value currently for the level of quality and what you’re getting.

Overall, this really is a very nice choice in the EV charger world. It performs great, has more than adequate quality, isn’t missing any must have features and charges relatively fast. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it.

When you own an EV and take it on a road trip, you are always thinking about your next charge. Thankfully, the software in our Model Y does a lot of that thinking for us, but I’m a trust-and-verify kind of engineer. More than once, I’ve been glad I did the “verify” part. Tesla owners: don’t forget your J1772 adapter — you’ll need it for this charger.
