Discover how to harness the power of food to support your body’s natural rhythms, empowering you to heal and thrive in this cookbook based on the revolutionary international bestseller, Fast Like a Girl.
Do you struggle with hormonal imbalances or feel like your diet is out of sync with your body’s needs? Do you find it difficult to manage your energy levels throughout the month? Many women experience these challenges, often without understanding why. This book will show you how to use food as a powerful tool to support your body’s natural rhythms and guide you to a healthier, more balanced life.
I was so excited for this book to come out, and it has NOT disappointed! It’s hard to know where to start with how much I love this book, but what I feel is most fantastic for me personally is that as a vegetarian trying to do Keto…Dr Mindy (and team!) have shown me it’s possible, when I was pretty well convinced it wasn’t. Dr Mindy has made it important that those of us who desire to adhere to our ideals and needs AND enjoy the benefits of ketosis are seen, and supported to do so. I am impressed, and forever grateful.
As you would expect, the recipes are organized by ketobiotoc and hormone feasting, along with a collection of fast breaking recipes. There are dessert recipes, even!! 😁 It is SO easy to plan your shopping and meals for the week ahead—which, for me, makes it fun (and the most do-able of any dietary plan I’ve ever taken on). There is also a section about setting up your pantry, and the many of the more unique ingredients are repeat performers—which I totally appreciate.
I went ahead and splurged on the spiral bound edition and it was worth every penny. It’s just such a functional option for a cookbook, and beyond that, the cover has a beautiful, satiny finish which had a lovely feel in the hand and will also handle a wiping if necessary. I just love approaching the book, for both cooking time and planning time.
In true Dr Mindy style, every single sentence in the book is packed with information, function, and empowering intention. Another thing I really appreciate about this book is that you encounter Dr Mindy’s teachings and way of thinking in yet another context (when actually preparing your food!), which allows it to land and unfurl in such a deep way. I am enjoying and connecting with my both my cooking and my meals in such a nurturing, nourishing way. Body AND soul. This is not like anything I have ever experienced and I LOVE it.
Okay…now I’ll talk about the FOOD!!!!! Delicious. Approachable. Varied. Simple. Satisfying. SO FREAKING DELICIOUS. There are recipes that are really pretty quick and perfect for weeknights as well as more involved, weekend “project” meals. And broths! There are drink recipes to support you on longer fasts! And desserts!!! (I LOVE to bake, which I’ve largely given up but I’m so excited to try the flourless torte with caramel sauce this weekend.).
If you are committed to walking this path and balancing your hormones and eating in this way–get the book. It will support you one thousand percent. And just like everything Dr Mindy does, this cookbook done with so much intention, smarts, and love.
I love the layout of this book! I’m new to Dr Mindy’s teachings but did read the Menopause Reset and decided to give this a try since it not only includes recipes, but HOW to fast and the keys to success with easy to understand research-based facts. It also includes her 28 day reset program in the back.
It’s truly like getting 3 books in one.
I haven’t tried many recipes, since I’ve only had it a week, but I like that the recipes tell you what fasting cycle they are for but also what dieting style (GF/Keto/Vegan). I will say that some of the ingredients have been a challenge for me to find in my rural Pennsylvania world, so I may have to order those or skip them. The only other drawback is it’s not a “cheap” diet to follow but honestly, it’s so expensive to eat healthy with any recipe. I consider it an investment in myself AND heck, with eating only one or two meals per day, I’m saving money that way. 😂🤷♀️
I can honestly say this is the ONLY cookbook that I read front to back and actually enjoyed. Well done!!
